So, you've retired -- congratulations! This next and exciting time comes with endless possibilities. Suddenly, you have bountiful time on your hands. The question become... what do you do now?

Retirement marks the start of a new chapter. Like anything new, there is a level of uncertainty and discomfort that comes along with it. While many retirees look forward to having fewer plans and open-ended days, others find they need structure.

We've compiled a list of 10 things to do now that you've retired.

10 Experiences to Enjoy During Retirement

#1: Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to donate your time to help others. This activity can help you meet new people, give back to your community, and feel a sense of purpose during retirement. If you need ideas of where to volunteer, check out listings on your local animal shelter or food bank.

#2: Travel

Whether you’re renting an RV for a cross-country family road trip or jet-setting to Europe, travel is a great way to make use of your free time. Without vacation time or work to worry about, retirees are able to travel more leisurely.

#3: Take a Class

If you've always wanted to go back to school, now is the time! From enrolling in programs to taking an online class that sparks your interest, there are countless opportunities to learn nowadays.

#4: Spend Time with Family

For those who don’t have family that lives locally, spending time with loved ones isn’t always easy when you’re working a 9-5. Retirement offers the ability to spend more quality time with children and grandchildren.

#5: Find a New Hobby

You're finally free to try that art class or learn how to play the piano! Try out a few different hobbies to see what sticks. If you don’t like it, you have plenty of time to find your calling.

#6: Join a Club

If you've been looking for a way to connect with others through a shared interest, consider joining a club. Whether that be a book club or bible study, clubs offer the unique opportunity to meet others that share your passion for something.

#7: Hone Your Cooking Skills

When you have a busy day at work, the last thing that you want to do is cook an intricate dinner. But when you're retired you can finally crack open that cookbook that's been sitting on your counter for ages!

#8: Adopt a Pet

If you love animals but felt you didn't have time for a furry friend before, now you do. Pets are a great way to establish structure and provide companionship.

#9: Exercise

Working adults often say exercise is the first thing to go during a week. We all know how important exercise and staying healthy is, especially as we age. Now is the time to try that water aerobics or yoga class!

#10: Relax!

For the first time (possibly ever), you have nothing crucial to do and nowhere to be. Take advantage of it! Allow yourself to rest and enjoy that beautiful retiree life.

Retirement offers newfound freedom to pursue your passions and spend more time with loved ones. What is your favorite way to spend the day as a retiree?
