Five Fun Ways Older Adults Can Celebrate Easter

Easter is often thought of as a childlike holiday, when in actuality there are so many fun activities that older adults can participate in. We can five ideas that are guaranteed to get you into the spirit of spring and Easter. So, let’s hop to it!

1. When is the last time you made an Easter basket? Chances are it’s probably been a few years, which is all the more reason to take make one this year! From buying the basket to decorating it and filling it with your favorite goodies, this creative activity is easy and so fun to do. You can even decorate baskets to give to your friends and family!

2. There’s no better time to get outside than on Easter! This holiday often marks the end of winter and beginning of spring. Take advance of the change in seasons by strolling through nature, gardening, or having an afternoon picnic in the sunshine.  The warm weather is sure to feel more like Easter! 

3. If you love to host, then create a Easter brunch or dinner for your loved ones. Start with decorating your home and then create a themed menu. You can serve up all of your favorite family recipes for the special day! This activity is a little more work than the others, but the result is so worth it.

4. Skip the artificial eggs and opt for homemade Easter eggs this year! All you need for this classic activity are fresh eggs, water, vinegar, and food coloring to dye your eggs. You can even plan an Easter egg hunt after you’re finished decorating your eggs. 

5. Looking for a unique craft activity? If so, try making an Easter egg wreath for your front door. This festive décor is simple to make and can be customized however you like. Just start with a wreath and use a hot glue gun to create a beautiful ring of eggs, flowers, bows, and more. This is a great activity to do amongst friends, or with your grandchildren.

Like any holiday, Easter is a great reason to get together with loved ones. Whether you’re spending the day with friends or family, aim to do one thing on Easter Sunday that you can look forward to.
